3-step natural facial skincare routine with Tri-dosha – Review

As a mother, I don’t have much time for self-care. In the mornings, there is zero time for a facial skincare routine (it’s a win if I manage to wash my face with face wash!) and at night I admit, even if I have the time I don’t have the energy… I just want to go to bed! So my skincare routine has basically just been washing, sometimes exfoliating and moisturising whenever I remember. Not the best I know, but…

Add to the lack of time the addition of stress – stress about my son’s illness or blog stuff or you know, general life stuff. Then come December there’s Christmas thrown into the mix. Now as I’m a mum there aren’t too many late nights (of the partying kind), but there are still outings and Christmas events and I don’t want to go looking like Old Mother Hubbard!

So when I came across Tri-dosha, and their Ayurvedic products that balance and rejuvenate your skin from within, I thought about giving them a chance. I’ve tried face creams galore, but this seemed different. The science of Ayurveda has always intrigued me (for those not in the know, Ayur means life and Veda means science or knowledge). The concept of tri-dosha basically states that once we know which of the three doshas constitutes our body and mind, we can work towards balancing it with nature. You can read more about it here.

UK-based Tri-dosha’s products have been developed by a team of Ayurvedic specialists led by Sunita Passi. After a brief discussion on my skin-type (dosha), I chose the three-step facial skincare routine. I’ve been using it religiously for two weeks now and am seeing a positive difference – I’ve finally found something that works, that I know is suitable for my skin-type and icing on the cake, it’s all natural!

Here’s my review of the three products I’m using:

1. Exfoliating Face Scrub (£23)

If you have lacklustre-looking skin, the Exfoliating Face Scrub is perfect. This little jar is packed with 43 Ayurvedic herbs (yes you read that right – 43!!!) including kutki which reduces skin toxins, and fitkari which cleanses the skin of impurities. Unlike most exfoliating creams, it is smoother on the skin, yet has a powerful exfoliating effect. This should be the first step in your 3-step routine.

2. Face Cream – Balance Face Cream for Combination Skin (£36)

This is my favourite – it is so smooth and has a calming , spa-like aroma. Brimming with mulathiI, an oil-absorber from the sun-tropical regions of India and pippli extract which purifies and rejuvenates decongested skin, this cream helps to restore unbalanced complexions.

A little goes a long way with this one, and because it is non-oily, it can be applied even in the daytime. It’s light in texture but packs in a whole lot of goodness! Perfect for the kapha skin type.

3. Facial Oil – Happiness in a Bottle (£39)

As the name suggests, there is plenty of happiness (and goodness) in this bottle. Comprising a blend of natural essential oils and plant extracts, it helps nourish parched skin.

The key ingredients are evening primrose (packed with Omega 6 fatty acids), frankincense that promotes cell turnover and rose geranium for radiant, smooth skin.

I like to dab some on just before bedtime as being an oil it obviously has an oily texture – not the best look for going out. Instead, I let it absorb into and work on my skin through the night, and I wake up feeling skin-fresh.

These are the three facial products I reviewed for my skin-type, but Tri-dosha has something to suit everyone. From relaxing, energising and pregnancy-specific massage oils to hydrating face masks to haircare and balms, there’s a lot on offer. And the best part – it’s made just for you. Naturally!

Disclosure: I was provided these facial products in exchange for an honest review; all opinions expressed are entirely my own.
