Warmth and style with Land’s End jackets: Review

Land's End jacket

Two confessions:

I’m not a winter girl at all. I love sunshine and warmth.

BUT

I am a complete winter-wear girl. I’m all for the boots and scarves and jackets.

So I was delighted to work with one of my favourite brands – Land’s End – on their AW Coats and Jackets 2023 campaign. As I already have a number of thick winter coats and jackets, I chose a jacket more suitable for the Autumn months rather than the stark cold of December, January and February. But if you’re looking for winter coats or gilets, do check out their website – they have a great range available.

I opted for the Women’s Wanderweight Ultralight Packable Down Jacket with Hood as this was something that I was looking for since a while, and I am in love with it and have been flaunting it all month (as you will see in the images). Here’s what I thought of the jacket…

Lightweight yet warm… and water-resistant too

The thing about Autumn is that you have days where the sun is shining bright, but the air is crisp and cool. Or you have wet and windy days. This jacket is perfect for this confusing sort of weather: it is lightweight so doesn’t feel overbearing when it’s not too cold, yet is cosy enough to keep the chill at bay. And being water-resistant, it does it’s job when those sudden downpours appear. The attached and adjustable hood ensures not a drop of water touches your hair and keeps the wind away as well.

Stylish fit and length

Yes, jackets need to be warm but they also need to be stylish. After all, we wear them for months on end, so you don’t want something that makes you look sloppy. This jacket is available in a multitude of colours, and while I usually love my bright pinks and greens, I chose a black this time to balance out my wardrobe! But there’s also a beautiful Deep Sea Navy shade, a more Muted Blue, a gorgeous Hot Pink (which I was seriously contemplating), a rich burgundy and a soothing Teal.

But what I especially love about this jacket is its mid-hip length… it is just right! Long enough to cover your mid-area and buttocks, yet not too long so as to look baggy. The feminine seams also curve around the body lending a tight-fitted, slender look. And because of its length it is so versatile and looks great with jeans, leggings and dresses alike!

Practical… has pockets with zips

Pockets – a factor in clothing that is so important for all women. And a pocket with zips is, in my opinion, ultimate. The zipped hip pockets definitely get a thumbs up from me!!!

Other features

Other features about this jacket include:

  • 800-fill power HyperDRY™ down
  • 100% nylon shell/lining; 90% down and 10% feathers insulation; 100% polyester hood insulation
  • Packs into the internal pocket for easy transport
  • Machine washable
  • Practically weightless warmth
  • Looks just as great with the zip front open
