A stay-at-home-mum has a difficult task. She is expected to maintain her household and be an attentive mother while also making time for herself and staying fit. This can feel like an impossible feat at times, but it does not have to be! If you are a stay-at-home-mum who wants to maintain their health while taking care of the house, this blog has some tips for you.

1. Find a form of exercise you enjoy

Perhaps it is running, yoga or aerobics. Maybe it’s going to the gym or lifting weights at home when your children are asleep. There are so many options for working out that finding something enjoyable should not be difficult! If doing one thing all the time gets boring, then try something new each week until you find what works best for you! Discovering an activity that builds up endurance makes staying fit easier in the long run because getting started will seem much less daunting if it does not require too much preparation from day one.

Another fun and practical way to fit exercise into your daily routine is to use commuter scooters for running errands, or even for a spin to the park with your kid/s on their own scooters. These foldable, lightweight and funky adult scooters won’t even feel like exercise, but you’ll be getting your steps in!

2. Surround yourself with support

This tip is important when you are working towards any goal in life, but it is especially key if you are a stay-at-home -mum. If your spouse or family members are supportive of the changes that you want to make, then staying motivated will be much easier. Whether this means joining them for walks around the block every evening after dinner time or letting others know what type of exercise routine works best for you so they can help by lending their assistance when needed, having someone who wants to see your success makes sticking to fitness goals far more doable than trying alone.

Also make use of technology to help you stay on track. A fitbit watch is perfect to keep count of your daily steps, heart rate, calorie intake and much more. Add a funky fitbit strap and you just got yourself a new accessory – bonus points!

3. Make A Plan

This cannot be stressed enough! Having some guidelines for yourself to follow not only helps you stay on track but can also help keep your fitness journey interesting. If you know that every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning, you will wake up early to do 30 minutes of cardio, then that is something you can count on even when the days get tough. Plans give us a sense of purpose as mothers, so try and find time each day to work towards your goal, even if it is just for a few minutes at a time!

4. Make time for yourself

This one can be hard, but it is so important! You cannot take care of others if you do not take care of yourself first and foremost. Dedicate at least 30 minutes each day, when the baby is asleep or the kids are on school trips to London, to something that makes you happy – whether that is reading a book, taking a walk, or even just soaking in a hot bath! Putting yourself first every once in a while will help you stay refreshed and energized when caring for your family.

Just remember to find an activity you enjoy, make time for yourself, and be patient with the process. Fitness takes time to build up, so start small if needed.

These are just a few tips that should help any stay-at-home-mum maintain her health while taking care of the household. Fitness does not necessarily have to be hard, but it does require effort and consistency. Staying fit as a mum is possible with these tips, but you must be committed to making the changes that will keep your health in check.
