Shopping with a toddler? Now possible!

Shopping and toddlers don’t go hand-in-hand. You want to window-shop; your toddler wants to run all around the shop. You can’t decide between the lime green bag and the teal blue one; your toddler has already put both in his stroller. You want to catch all the sales, your toddler has already finished his snacks, juice and 17 episodes of Chuggington and is now whining/throwing a tantrum/running all around the mall.

But things took a turn for the better (for both Little Man and myself) when Splat Soft Play and Kiddie Karts for Hire opened at Bluewater in Greenhithe, Kent. While Little Man doesn’t seem too excited about the soft play area (only because the other alternative has got to do with cars!), what he loves are the various kiddie karts or ride-in cars that we hire for him to pretend-drive around the mall. There are cars in all colours (dazzling, sparkling ones too) and different models. Including fire engines and police cars (needless to say, his favourites). Complete with steering wheel, a horn, seatbelt and a huge basket and some extra pegs to keep all your shopping, this one’s a no-brainer for both of us. We can shop, window-shop, stroll, basically ENJOY without the fear of a tantrum or a whine. (The tantrum erupts at the end when it’s time to return the kart. Still, it’s worth it).

Price: £5 for two hours for a single-seater and £7 for two hours for a double-seater. You can keep the car for longer and pay the additional charge later.

Opening hours:
Monday – Saturday – 10 am – 6 pm
Sunday – 11 am – 5 pm.

There is a cafe serving hot and cold drinks and snacks at the soft play area, so you can rest those legs with some tea and cake while your toddler gets a run around.

So the next time you want to shop till you drop, without your little one killing the mood, remember this post!;) After all, a tired mama can do with some serious retail therapy!

No, this isn’t a sponsored post. Little Man just loves these kiddie karts and we enjoy a day out because of them!
