3 major benefits of renting out your space

If you’re looking for a lucrative way to make some extra money each month, then renting might be your best bet. So, when it comes to renting, this could be your commercial space, renting out your apartment, your house, or even an extra bedroom if you have one. All of this can be fantastic, and it’s honestly a great way to get extra money a month for something that you own. Of course, not everyone is able to do this, such as strict mortgage contracts that don’t allow it or even strict renting contracts too.

But taking these out of account, this can be a great opportunity. In fact, now more than ever, people are realising how important and lucrative real estate is. Some are so enticed that they join BuyAssociation Group and other groups so they can be in the know about real estate investment trends and so on. So, with that said, what are some of the benefits of renting out your space? Besides money, is it even worth it? What about all the paperwork, the communication, and even the potential drama? Well, here’s what you need to know!

It’s all about the income

Alright, so this was technically mentioned, but it definitely deserves to be mentioned again. More people are looking into passive streams of income; whether they need the extra money or not, it’s going to help out in the long run. Whether it’s a spare bedroom, a vacation home, or a commercial property, renting allows you to monetise your space without requiring constant hands-on involvement.

But of course, when it comes to these, you’re going to want to be reasonable. You don’t want to rent out a closet (which there are news stories about), a balcony, or a space in your backyard for a tent. The same goes for a house that is clearly unsafe and unhealthy. If you’re choosing to rent, make sure that it’s safe, in liveable conditions, and something that’s comfortable. If you wouldn’t want to live in bad conditions, why subject it to others?

There’s usually tax benefits

Alright, so not all the time, but for the most part, you can expect that there will be some tax benefits here and there for this. In many countries, rental income is subject to lower tax rates than regular employment income. Additionally, you may be able to deduct expenses related to the property, such as repairs, maintenance, and property management fees. Overall, this can be super beneficial, but make sure to closely look into all of this to make sure it’s actually worth it.

Increase property security

Two pairs of eyes are better than one, and the same can be said for tenants living in your space. Chances are, you might know that abandoned and vacant places will eventually get vandals. It’s not too uncommon to see people spray graffiti, smash out windows, or just try to steal things inside. It’s all horrible, and even locking up and gating a space off doesn’t entirely guarantee any safety. So, with that said, if you have someone living in your space, it’s going to immediately deter any vandals because they know someone lives there, and they don’t want to risk getting into any trouble.
