Tips to boost your child’s confidence
Confidence is a big part of a child’s development not just in school, but throughout their lives. They’ll be able to communicate with people better, learn how to pick up new skills easily and bring a new level of focus to their abilities. Confident children are also happier and more likely to pick up different activities and hobbies.
If you’re looking for ways to help boost your child’s confidence, this nursery in Buckingham has put together some useful tips.
1. Encourage your child to try a range of activities
It can be daunting to think that your child is missing out on trying an activity simply because they’re afraid. It’s important to take these barriers away and have your child at least try them out, even if they don’t enjoy it afterwards. Your child may want to try ice hockey for example, but doesn’t have any idea how to skate on the ice. This would be the first step to getting them to try something new and increase their confidence.
2. Experiment with various arts and crafts
Arts and crafts are synonymous with creativity and curiosity, so let your child explore these areas in a safe and secure environment. Have your child use a range of different art tools, like paints, colouring pencils and chalk to really build their awareness of what they can make with the tools in front of them. Make them feel proud of their creations by sticking them on the fridge.
3. Explore nature: Head out on walks each week
Long walks give people a chance to unwind, express their feelings and have some quality time with their friends or family. For a child this is the perfect time to explore a new place, have a chance to talk candidly with their parents and feel good about themselves at the same time. Your relationship with your child will grow, and you’ll feel a much closer bond to them because of it.
