I'm having an affair, and it's no secret!

You could say I'm having an affair. If you saw us together, you would think it.
Hubster knows. I'm sure my son suspects a fond likeness between us, too.
My friends know. Most of them.
It's no secret, really.
And… I'm not ashamed.
To proclaim my love for…
COFFEE and WINE (coffee first thing in the morning; wine on evenings when the coffee just couldn't cut it i.e. when Little Man's been driving me up the motherhood wall).
Now, I realise it's a very 'modern mom' thing to proclaim intense love (need?) for these two beverages. I've read a zillion memes and another zillion blog posts on the subject, and at the cost of sounding cliched, I agree with all of them. And support every sip of the trend (wonder if there's a Facebook Coffee n' Wine Mom Lovers group?!).
But you see, very often, it's more a necessity for us than an addiction. I don't need to tell you that mums are always exhausted, haven't had a good night's sleep since, well, becoming mums, and are constantly on-the-move. For which they need to be 'awake' (literally and figuratively). When we've got to wake up at dawn and then endure Peppa Pig screeching in our living room at 6 am, we need coffee. When we've played cars, and done some painting, and kicked the ball around and read 27 books – and it's only 10 am – we need a coffee. When we have a whining, bored toddler and six more hours before daddy comes home from work, we need a coffee. It's what keeps us going, essentially, our go-to every morning and our wake-me-up every afternoon.
Wine. Now that's another drink I like. And if I'll be honest, sometimes need. No, I'm not leaning towards alcoholicism and I don't drink a bottle glass every evening, but it just feels awesome after a LONG, HARD DAY OF PARENTING. It takes the edge off, and just re-sets you for another long, hard day of parenting. Besides, it tastes good!
So there. I said it. Just like most of the mum tribe out there. My secret affair is out in the open, and as I mentioned earlier, I'm not ashamed. The three of us just get along so well you see…
And in the spirit of this post, here's a little wish for all us coffee-loving/needing/wanting mums

Musings of a tired mummy...zzz...
Me too! It is my guilty pleasure. Coffee (has to be mocha!) once a day and a glass or two of wine a week to congratulate myself on surviving! #bestandworst
Nicole
Well said Laura… we need the congratulatory drink:)
Madhu

Nicole
🙂 Hahaha, God bless wine!
Jaki
Haha, I have never liked coffee. I always wish I did as it's such a social thing, and also good for the whole staying awake thing. How I survived the newborn days without it I don't know! #bestandworst
Nicole
Wow… so was it an extra glass of wine for you then?:)

Oh I was worried there. For a minute I thought you were outing me and my menage a trois with coffee and wine. Thank goodness for those two propping us up! Off to pour myself a coffee now! #FridayFrolics

I'm more of a tea and wine combination. But I do get a bit judgey about those mums that moan about mums linking wine too much. What's not to like! Thanks for linking up to #FridayFrolics
Nicole
Exactly… what's not to like?
PS: I'm a tea-lover too. Sometimes, a hot cuppa tea can solve so many problems…
The Tale of Mummyhood

Lucy At Home
Hehe I love the smell of coffee and I love coffee sweets, but I can't drink it myself (I'm sorry – please can we still be friends?! Haha). Wine, on the other hand, goes down veeery nicely! #blogcrush
Nicole
Hahahaha!
And yes wine does go down very very nicely:)
Silly Mummy
Haha! I don't drink alcoholic at all. But I have recently taken up coffee regularly again, having not drunk much of it for years. And I'm addicted to cherry coke (I know – so mature!)
Thanks so much for joining us for #FridayFrolics
