3 places to visit in London with kids

London is a great city to live in, as it is so culturally diverse. There is always something new to see and do, be it an event on Southbank, a stroll through one of the markets or a pop-up festival.  

Your children might be lucky enough to go on trips to various places in and around London with their school. They could go to the Science Museum or the Natural History Museum to learn about various things as part of their curriculum. School trips to the Natural History Museum and Science Museum can be fascinating and can really peak children’s interests.

However, if you are wanting to explore more of London with your children, either at the weekends or during school holidays, then here are three popular options for you.

1. London Eye

If your children are fascinated by heights, then a trip atop the London Eye will be perfect. At one point this attraction was the highest viewing point in London; however it was beaten in 2012 when The Shard was built. The London Eye stands at a whopping 443 ft tall and offers a bird’s eye view across London. Some of the sites you see especially on a clear day are outstanding. 

If you are making a day of it then you could also visit the Aquarium, to see and learn about some amazing fish and sealife. The aquarium has a huge selection of marine life including tiger sharks! Don’t forget the gift shop, where the kids can get something to remember their trip with. 

2. London parks

One of the best things about London are the parks and green, open spaces; perfect for picnics and for children to run around, cycle, skate or even play in the playgrounds. During the winter months, part of Hyde Park becomes home to the magical and hugely popular Winter Wonderland, complete with rides and Santa’s grotto.

A bonus about visiting the parks is that they are free so won’t break the bank like most activities in London.

3. Transport Museum

Another fun thing to do with the kids if you haven’t already is taking a trip to the transport museum in Covent Garden. If your little ones love forms of transport like buses and tubes then this is the perfect place to take them. You can sit in some if not all of the transport there and get a real feel for what it was like through the decades.
