#Mumspeak 11: What’s your ‘me-time’ luxury?

Motherhood is a 24/7 job. Add to that work, housework, life and everything in between, and we mums are left with very little or no time to ourselves. Even to do seemingly simple things like take a soak in the bath.

But we all need a dose of ‘me-time’ every once in a while. To rejuvenate us. And make us feel less Mum and more just us. And what we choose to do in that me-time can be anything that makes us feel thus. For some mums, it’s a book and bubble bath; for others it’s some alone time in the gym. A trip alone to the supermarket, a relaxed stroll around town and even a trip alone to the toilet constitutes ‘me-time’ luxury for some…

Rebecca from My Girls and Me

I love to have a hot bath, with candles, lots of bubble bath and a good book!

Beth from Twinderelmo

Painting my nails. Instantly makes me feel more glam.

Charlie from Our Altered Life

Reading! I never get a chance day to day so when I get some time I do love escaping into a good story.

Lianne from Anklebiters Adventures

Going for coffee and cake on my own and watching the world go by.

Carla from MyBump2Baby

I actually love going to my local spa and swimming baths. I love the fact that no-one can get hold of me for 30 minutes and I just spend my time swimming whilst I think – being a mum and having my own business means I don’t get a chance to have any time for myself.

Sarah from Boo Roo and Tigger Too

Going to the supermarket with no children. Being able to leisurely wander through the aisle, browse the clothes and even grab a drink and a slice of cake in the cafe.

Kayleigh from Inspire Gratitude and Manifest

The quiet time in the morning when no one else is awake usually between 5.30-6.30am every day where I can just wake up in my own time and start my day in peace.

Sarah from Just Buttons Blog

I love to bake. It’s one of my favourite hobbies that I don’t get to do very often now, so it’s a real treat when I can!

Sinead from Sinead Latham

Going for a potter around town on my own. Even if it’s just an hour. It’s nice to walk at my own pace and not hear the whirlwind of chaos.

Victoria from Healthy Vix

The gym! It’s the only place I can be totally by myself, kid free and without housework surrounding me!

Eva from Captain Bobcat

A weekly yoga class!

Jemma from Have Kids Will Travel UK

My weekly knitting class. Knitting, nattering and lots of cake and tea with some lovely ladies. I get to create some lovely things and knitting is great for mental health!

Sarah from Mummy Cat Notes

My me-time is gaming, I love sitting down in the evenings completely loosing myself in a game.

Terri from The Strawberry Fountain

I love a long hot soak in the bath with a good book once the children are asleep and can’t try and jump in with me or ask me 1000 questions.

Gemma from Mummy’s Waisted

Getting my hair done. I get to sit down with no-one climbing on me, and get to be pampered! Sometimes I pretend that I don’t have any children, I am a person, not just Mum ?

Becky from Baby Budgeting

I like to read without being disturbed. I normally have to do it in the bath.

Liberty from Liberty on the Lighter Side

Going to the theatre or cinema to watch a film I want to see (as opposed to a kiddie film); I hardly ever do it so it is a real luxury!

Rachael from Lukeosaurus And Me

I like having a read in the bath, bonus points if it’s bubbly! I never get time to do two different “me-time” things, so I have to combine the two!

Clare from Wild Mama – Wild Tribe

Does ‘going to the toilet by myself’ count? If not then escaping to the coffee shop to work on blog work rather than sitting in the house.

Kelly from Kelly Allen Writer

Probably reading a book in silence. This usually happens in the van when we’re travelling around ?

Emma from The Money Whisperer

I love to cook for pleasure rather than the daily scramble that is cooking for my always ravenously hungry, then apparently fussy family. Every so often I get to spend some time cooking yummy food from scratch. And then eating it in peace!
