5 self-esteem boosting tips for 2022

The last two years have been tricky to say the least.  But in 2022, we can welcome in a fresh start. We may be two months into the year but it’s never too late to take the chance to work on yourself and boost your self-esteem.

When you feel better about yourself, you’ll see an improvement in every aspect of your life, from your work to your family life and personal fulfilment.  If you’re ready to make 2022 the year you work on you, then here are five tips to help boost your self-esteem.

1. Get into good habits

Practicing good habits can help you achieve better physical, emotional and mental wellbeing – and it’s always easier to get into good habits than it is to break the bad ones. Activities such as taking short daily walks are not only good for your physical health, but can also benefit your mental health as well.

Take up enough good habits, and you might even slowly start to see them push the bad ones out!

2. Remember your accomplishments; not your failures

If you’re the sort of person that dwells on mistakes you made a decade ago, remembering your accomplishments can be tricky.

Get into the habit of having a daily round up of everything that went well for you and start keeping a note of them in a diary. That way, when you next get a knock to your self-esteem, you can look back and remember your successes.

3. Give your education a boost

Improving your education can do wonders for your self-esteem and can help you achieve the career that you’ve always dreamed of.

Of course, as we get older and have more responsibilities, returning to university can seem like a challenge. However, with distance learning you can study on a schedule that suits you

And, aside from improving your own education, courses such as Anglia Ruskin University’s Certificate of Higher Education in Working with Children, Families and Communities can also give you a greater understanding of the issues facing children and young people – a benefit for any parent.

4. Smile more!

Smiling is one of the simplest things we can do to promote better self-esteem. Research shows that not only does flashing our pearly whites improve our mood, but it can also reduce stress and blood pressure too.

Smiling is also infectious, it’s hard not to smile when you see someone else smiling. So, when you smile, you’ll not only improve your own wellbeing, but you’ll also help boost the wellbeing of those around you.

5. Connect with loved ones

We’ve gotten used to Facetime calls and Zoom gatherings to keep us connected to the ones we love, but nothing really beats meeting up with them in person.

Spending time with people that love us can really help us feel better. So, whether you host a dinner or simply invite a friend for coffee, you’ll be able to boost your mood.
