5 (random) must-have baby buys

As I was doing my spring cleaning the other day (yes I know it’s already summer, but I’m a mum, I’m allowed to be a few minutes  / days / months late), I came across some of Little Man’s ‘baby’ stuff. For the first few minutes I oooh-ed and aaah-ed and went through all the emotional mush (How I’ll miss these / How my baby has grown / Where did the past 2.9 years go? etc. etc.), after which the practical side of my brain switched on. And I marvelled at the genius of these ideas. Of how useful these particular objects/products were and how they had made my life that little bit easier.

As I mentioned, they are RANDOM, but I’m sure at least one of them will prove useful to you – if you’ve got a baby or toddler / are already pregnant / are thinking of starting a family.

The Munchkin Miracle 360 Trainer/Sippy Cup
How often has your toddler demanded to drink from a glass, only to spill the contents all over himself and the floor? Which is why I love the Munchkin Miracle 360 Sippy Cup – in three words, it’s a no-spill glass; in one word, it’s brilliant! Being spoutless, it also helps your li’l one learn to sip from a glass as opposed to a straw or spout. In my opinion, the ultimate no-spill cup for your toddler. (Also perfect for those tantrums when they insist on drinking from a glass like mummy and daddy!!!)

The Munchkin Snack Catcher
No, I am not deliberately promoting Munchkin, (nor is this a paid post), but truth be told, I am a huge fan of Munchkin products. Some of their stuff is pure genius! Back to the snack catcher – this was THE PERFECT snack container for Little Man, both at home and when out and about. The convenient flexible slits in the lid of the snack box made manoeuvring easy for those little fingers, while keeping me smug about the fact that the contents inside could not fall out! The perfect spill-proof snack container for toddlers who love to walk and munch.

The Self-Closing Pacifier
This one’s relevant only if your baby/ toddler uses a pacifier/ dummy/ soother/ binky … whatever you choose to call it. Little Man had a habit of flinging his from his mouth (as opposed to handing it to me) whenever I offered him food/snacks. Or when he saw grapes or strawberries, his favourites. At other times, it used to slip out from his mouth when he fell asleep. Which was fine when at home but when out, this miracle self-closing paci was a godsend. It shuts itself just as it touches the floor, so the paci is protected from dirt, germs and other things you wouldn’t like in your baby’s mouth!

Buggy Clip
This is an essential. Clip it onto your pram/ buggy/stroller and you can carry the world with you, literally! From your purse to your shopping bags to your groceries, this ingenious invention can hold so much!

A hand vacuum cleaner
Another godsend, especially if you have a toddler. This compact pint-sized vacuum cleaner can be whipped out AS SOON AS crumbs touch the floor. Or your carpet is covered with sequins. Or the sand from the sandpit finds its way in your kitchen. Who wants to bring out a heavy deadpan vacuum, plug it in, break your back 27 times a day?! The best thing hubby dearest bought for the house!
